Asparagus is a garden plant. The term designates its edible sprouts that grow from rhizomes from which underground buds grow each year to produce stems capable of reaching 1 to 1.5 meters high. Asparagus is a perennial plant with fleshy roots radiating in a star formation, with straight stems and fine and branched out foliage. In the wild, there are 12 species in Europe, including 5 in France.
