Pineapple

The word'' ananas'' (French for pineapple" comes from "nana" which means "fragrant" in the language of the Guarani Indians of the Amazon rainforest. Originally from Brazil, pineapple has been grown since the dawn of time in South America and the Caribbean. Until the nineteenth century, it was the exotic fruit most frequently grown in European greenhouses and a popular dish in high society.
